One of those "AWWWWW" pictures!!

Just thought you would all like to see this picture,
taken last week,
by my son in law,

of "Jasper",  and "Spencer",
My daughters' Jack Russell

Can we say "AWWW"

Updated pics of Beau Boston

And here are the latest shots of Beau Boston,
at a full two years old now,
He has decided he is a real MAN!!
He is calling the mares when they come up into the yard,
not screaming,   just the odd little whinny

So I have decided to breed him to Goblin,
and to Beauty.

I think both of these crosses will be awesome!!!

He has finally shed out now,
Still not sure,  just WHAT color he really is,

But he is turning into a nice young man!!

More welcome colour in the yard!!

We all know,  it's been a L O N G winter,   and spring arrived quickly it seems.

And now that the green has started to show up,
the birds are all returning,
and it seems that daily now there is another species back here for the summer.

Yesterday I came home from work,
to find:

The lovely little Goldfinches are back!!

Update on the mares

Now,   we all know that Chick, fooled us ALL!!!   Me INCLUDED!!   when she popped her colt on May 1st!!

And I will admit to having concerns,  even as early as February,  that Miss Goblin,  was not in foal.

Well,  mother nature has taken the guesswork out of this equation,

I think the 'Gooogly' eyes,  and the lifted tail,  speak for themselves!!

Yup,   Goblin is in full standing heat!!!

Oh well,   that's ok,  not meant to be I guess,   so I got to looking around, and there,  alongside her was,   The "Frog",  ALSO in a full heat!!

Needless to say,  that problem was rectified in a hurry.
'Frog' was bred to Shadow,  and Goblin was Bred to Beau Boston!!

Goblin is a good mare for a first time breeding for the young fella,
she will stand well for him,  and not mess him around.

Onward and Upward!!!

Next Foaling Competition coming SOON!!!

This weeks shade of Roan......................

Ok,  the seasons change,  and the roans around here,  change with them,  only more often!!    Sometimes weekly!!   Its hard to keep them straight in your head sometimes!!!

This is Beaus Dun Biddn,
aka "turd"

And this is Beaus Red Cowgirl,
aka "Cowgirl"

One of these days,  they will stay the same color for a week .......
Maybe!!!!

A sister to chick, a working girl, this one

A good friend of mine,  that trains at the racetrack ,
sent me a couple of pictures of "Charley"
this mare is a full sister to "chick",  my orphan and most recent momma!!

The pictures where taken with her cell phone,  so not very big,  but I am glad to see them!!

"Charley",  now belongs to 'Bucky' Stockwell,  and had just shipped in,  the day before,  from New Mexico.

She s a 'Pony Horse'  and is a great help in assisting to get the Thoroughbreds to the racetrack for training,  and also on race day.

Just thought you might be interested in some of my offspring,  and their careers!!

The boy gets to go OUTSIDE!!!!

OK,  Time for an update on the new arrival!!

The 'Boy'  and his mother got to go outside to do the "Meet N' Greet" with the rest of the broodmare herd today.

Chick is doing an EXCELLENT job of being a momma,   but she cannot do anything about ol PR,  who has decided that she WILL be this boys Gramma.
like it or not!!!

It was a little chilly this morning,  so he got to keep his jacket on for a while
but then it warmed up,  so.............OFF it came
and he was a NAKED boy!!!

Not a bad looking dude for 3 days old!!

Chick is one VERY proud Momma

Everybody has had a look,
Not been allowed too close,
but she makes sure she is between him and them!!

Considering she was orphaned at 12 hours old!!

WHAT A GOOD MOM!!!!

Still playing with names,
maybe:  DOX SNOOPN GLO!!

She fooled us all !!! ITS A BOY !!!

Well,  Chick fooled us all !!

She foaled at about 6am this morning,  and the world welcomed
a beautiful little boy!!

She had an awesome Sorrel colt,  with two socks,  behind,  all on her own,
and her buddy ,  miss Bailey,  had stolen him for herself,  when I went out to check.

Anyway,  got baby and momma into a nice big pen for her and "GLO" to do the bonding thing.

The weather here has been NASTY yesterday,  so sure am GLAD it is going to smarten up today!!
The wind is cool,  so he got a little blanket on asap,  and into a nice warm bed of straw.

I am thinking his name will be:

Sonita's Glo.

Anyway,  just updating everyone on the goings on around here!!

Welcome little man!

"Ladies in Waiting":

Chick

Yup,  the bag is starting to show!!

Goblin,  is due on May 15,  right after Chick,
                                          Could be a race !!!

Bailey was Otherwise Occupied at Picture time,
But,
Here is Jill Bid,  due June 16th,

(Yes,  that is Jem giving me the 'beady' eye)

This will be her last foal,
she will be on the "retirement" crew,  next year

Age is getting to be a factor with these girls,  they have been my best broodmares for some years now,  but its time,  for them to live the live of ease
for the rest of their days!!

Along with Irish Delight,  (PR),

they can be the "Gramma" dept!!!

And now, the countdown begins....................to BABIES that is!!!

As I said in my last post,
change sometimes is a good thing,
and exciting!!

So now,  we begin the countdown,
to the babies we are expecting this year
at Prairie Ridge Performance

I bred 4 of the mares last year,
and one of them has ALWAYS kept me guessing
as to whether or not she is actually carrying,
so,  this year,  I am just going to assume that she is!!

but,  in the mean time,
there are a couple that are OBVIOUS!!

Chick,  being one of them

Yup,  she's got the "LARGE MARGE" sign out!!
